Thermal Break & Acoustic Sealing Tape V494

CST V494 is a high-performance closed cell PVC foam tape designed to provide both thermal break and acoustic isolation within building structures. Suitable for joists, studs and beams, it creates a uniform resilient layer between construction components, helping reduce thermal bridging, vibration and sound transmission.

When installed against steel framing, the tape acts as a thermal break between conductive building components, helping improve thermal performance and reduce the risk of condensation caused by temperature differentials. The closed cell foam does not mould or mildew and can also help prevent the characteristic “ghosting” marks associated with thermal bridging through steel studwork.

The resilient foam structure also provides effective acoustic and vibration isolation. Depending on the construction, CST can be used between floor joists and subfloors, around steel studs, and with steel rafters and trusses to reduce structure-borne and airborne sound transmission.

CST V494 features a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side for quick positioning and a durable, smooth upper surface to assist installation. Its consistent thickness and width create a uniform gasket, making it suitable for both on-site installation and pre-application during off-site manufacture.
